Purnea: In a shocking incident, five bodies were stolen from a cremation ground in Bihar's Purnea district. The case is of Naulakha cremation ground in Kasba police station area where 5 bodies buried in the grave were stolen. Earlier in 2014, seven bodies were stolen from the same cremation ground. The incident has not been revealed yet. In the cremation ground at Naulakha, people who normally do not have money for cremation are buried.

The incident came to light when local villagers had gone to the cremation ground to graze cattle. They saw that the soil of 5 graves was out and the bodies were missing. Ram Kumar Mahato, a local villager and district vice-president of Hindustani Awam Morcha  (backward cell), said bodies of persons from the Mahadalit community are buried at this cremation ground.

There is a lot of resentment among the locals as 5 bodies were stolen simultaneously from the cremation ground. With houses being stolen, people are now surprised by the theft of bodies. According to local people, due to poverty, people bury the body instead of burning it due to a lack of money. People have also demanded a siege of crematoriums. It is also coming out that people are stealing the dead for tantric action. It is also feared that the bodies are being smuggled and sent to the medical college.
