Washington: Shark fishes are being hunted extensively in the sea amid the outbreak of the Corona pandemic worldwide. These sharks are being killed for squalene, a special oil made with their liver which will be used to make the corona vaccine. It is a type of natural oil, which is used to increase the effectiveness of a vaccine.
Amidst all this, it has been warned by Wildlife Experts that more than half a million sharks can be killed all over the world for this task. According to experts, the corona vaccine is very important for mankind, but this seems to threaten the life of shark fish. They are already low in reproduction. An American body working for the conservation of shark fishes has claimed that 2.5 million sharks may be killed if people around the world require a single dose of the corona vaccine, but if two doses are needed five lakh sharks will be hunted.
According to experts, "We cannot kill sharks in such large quantities for squalene. We do not know how long the pandemic will last and how big it will be". Experts say that it would not be right to kill the wild animal for anything, especially when the reproduction in this organism is not on a large scale. However, they don't want to slow down the vaccine preparation process, but instead wants to test for the non-animal Squalene simultaneously.
