The Indian Premier League has flourished into becoming arguably the best league in the world. The lucrative T20 competition has attracted a lot of high-profile players to be playing in the league who relish the tag in their professional careers. It is during this phase that teams begin to ideate plans to bolster their squads. On many occasions, some players have triggered a bidding war among franchises to make cricket news and have attracted big bucks. Here is a list of five such players who are the most expensive in the history of the IPL-

1. Chris Morris - 16.25 crore

The South Africa all-rounder became the most expensive signing in IPL history during the 2021 auction. Rajasthan Royals secured his services for a whopping 16.25 Cr. after a bidding war that was started from a base price of Rs. 75L.

2. Yuvraj Singh - 16 crore

Delhi Capitals broke the bank when they spent 16 Cr. for former star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. The southpaw went on to score 248 runs and picked up one wicket in 14 matches that season.

3. Pat Cummins - 15.5 crore

Australia pacer Pat Cummins was acquired by the Kolkata franchise for a humongous figure of 15.5 crores in the auction with his base price being 2 crores. Cummins was an integral asset to the squad that season as he scalped 12 wickets and scored 146 runs in 14 games of IPL 2020.

4. Kyle Jamieson - 15 crore

Royal Challengers Bangalore submitted a massive bid of 15 crores for the Kiwis player to secure his services in the IPL 2021 auction. In his nine outings, he scored 65 runs and picked up nine wickets.

5. Ben Stokes - 14.5 crore

The 2017 auction saw the Englishman getting acquired by Rising Pune Supergiant for a massive 14.5 crore. The star all-rounder was adjudged the Player of the season and justified his price tag rightfully.
