Islamabad: A horrific accident occurred when a boat full of processions capsized in the Indus river near Machke, about 65 km from Rahim Yar Khan in Pakistan. 50 people have lost their lives in this accident. More than 100 people were on board the boat. According to Pakistani media reports, some people are still missing, whose chances of survival are now negligible. This accident happened on Monday.
According to media reports, district administration spokesperson Kashif Nisar Gill said there was no possibility of finding the missing persons as it had been more than 48 hours since the accident took place. Gill said most of the survivors were men, who managed to swim to the shore. According to a report in 'Dawn', the incident took place on Monday when a wedding party was returning to Machke from Khore village in two boats. A cousin of the groom said, "One of the boats got overloaded and overturned after one of his hulls fell, most of the women and children of the family drowned as only men were rescued in the initial attempts."
According to the media report, about eight members of the same family of Solangi family drowned in the accident along with their relatives. The bodies of the deceased have been buried in the ancestral graveyard at their native village Hussain Bakhsh Solangi near Machke in Sindh. Sardar Abbas Khan Solangi, the head of the clan, bid a final farewell to 26 people, including two children and a woman.
