New Delhi: Amit Shah, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and union home minister has turned 55 today. He was born on 22 October 1964 in a wealthy Gujarati family in Mumbai. Amit Shah's mother's name is Kusumben and father's name is Anilchandra Shah. Amit Shah is considered as the Chanakya of the current politics. However, the journey from his stock broker to becoming Chanakya in politics is very interesting.

Ever since Amit Shah took charge of the BJP president, the party has achieved many successes. However, Amit Shah has not inherited politics. After doing BSC in biochemistry from Ahmedabad, Amit Shah started his father's plastic pipe business. He then ventured into the stock market and worked as a share broker.

Amit Shah joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of 16 in 1980 and became an active activist of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Shah was appointed joint secretary of the Gujarat unit of ABVP in 1982 after only two years on the strength of his efficiency and activism. They met PM Narendra Modi in 1986 and this meeting turned into friendship and there is no need to say that duo is now representing India.
