New Delhi: The 5G mobile service is going to be launched soon in the country. The way has been cleared for auction of 5G spectrum. The cabinet, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, has given the green signal for auction of 5G spectrum  for the next 20 years. The auction of spectrum will begin from the end of July. The Central government has informed that a total of 72 GHz spectrum will be auctioned in (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), Mid (3300 MHz) and High (26 GHz) frequency bands.

In a statement, the government said that 5G telecom services are likely to be launched soon, the speed and capacity of 5G mobile service will be about 10 times higher than that of 4G mobile service. Payment for spectrum can be made in 20 equal annual instalments, which are to be paid in advance at the beginning of every year. This is likely to greatly reduce cash flow needs and reduce the cost of doing business in the sector. At the same time, the company acquiring the spectrum will be given the option to surrender the spectrum after 10 years without future liabilities.

The Cabinet has also given the green signal to the private captive network, using which enterprises and technology giants can have their own networks, which will be used to enable machine-to-machine communication, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence applications in automotive, healthcare, agriculture, energy and other sectors.
