On Saturday, a 71-year-old man died in a government hospital due to COVID-19 in Kannur, Kerala state. The patient was a resident of Mahe, located in Mahruk Puducherry. He also complained of kidney and hypertension. This information was given by Kannur District Medical Officer Narayan Nayak.

He was first treated for fever in two private hospitals in Thalassery, later admitted to Pariram Medical College Hospital where he died today. After the death, all the protocols issued in the case of Covid-19 were followed for cremation.

The next day, he had trouble breathing, then he was shifted to a private hospital in Kannur. On April 7, after being tested positive for corona virus, he was taken to Parariam Medical College Hospital. Since then he was on ventilator support. Narayan Naik, Medical Officer of Kannur District, said, 'He had no travel history. We do not know how he got infected. Recently he went to many ceremonies and also went to a mosque. Apart from this, he also used public transport".
