Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Dharam Pal Singh on Sunday (October 30) said that a recent survey conducted by the state government has revealed that more than 7500 madrasas were running without recognition in the state. The survey is being conducted to grant recognition to unrecognised madrasas fulfilling the conditions set by the government. Minority Welfare Minister Dharampal Singh, while talking to the media, has said that a high-powered committee will now take a decision on all the madrasas found to be unrecognised.

It is noteworthy that all the District Magistrates will submit their report regarding the survey of madrasas by November 15. Only then will the final list of unrecognised madrasas be released. In this case, Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, head of the Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Education Board, has said that it will take time to come out with the exact data about unrecognized madrasas. However, according to estimates, there are around 7500 such madrasas, which were surveyed by teams from 75 districts till Thursday (October 27).

Iftikhar further said that there are 16,513 recognized madrassas in UP, out of which 560 were being provided government grants as salary to teaching and non-teaching employees. The pay scale of teaching staff of 560 madrasas is similar to that of central government schools. Explain that under the Madrasa Modernization Scheme, 744 madrassas are given grants for Shiksha Mitras. In addition, scholarships are also given to the meritorious students of all recognized madrassas.
