New Delhi: The 75th Republic Day celebrations in India on January 26 will have a significant focus on women's empowerment and representation. The parade at Kartavya Path will be predominantly "women-centric," emphasizing India's commitment to democracy and its aspirations to become a developed nation.

A noteworthy aspect is the leading role played by 100 women artists with Indian musical instruments, marking the beginning of the parade. Additionally, an all-women tri-services contingent will march down the ceremonial boulevard for the first time, and the central armed police forces contingents will also feature women personnel.

According to Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, this Republic Day parade will showcase the best representation of women, making it a historic event. The emphasis on gender equality extends to the Border Security Force (BSF), where all-women marching and brass band contingents will participate in the parade.

French President Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest at the 75th Republic Day celebrations, marking the sixth instance of a French leader being the chief guest. The parade will witness the participation of French Air Force Rafale fighter jets and multirole tanker transport aircraft.

The India-France relationship holds strategic significance, with both nations celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Strategic Partnership this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade in Paris on July 14, 2023, has invited President Macron, expressing eagerness to celebrate their strategic partnership and shared democratic values.
