COIMBATORE: A seven-year-old girl was found murdered after she was reportedly sexually abused in Coimbatore district. The incident sparked widespread protests on Wednesday. The 7-year-old girl went missing on Monday Evening, was found dead in Kasthurinacken Pudur near Pannimadal on Tuesday. According to the police, the girl was playing in front of her house when she went missing.

The body of the girl, with blood stains, was recovered by the police near her house on Tuesday. Post mortem report suggests that the victim was sexually abused before she was murdered, sources said. Her limbs had been tied and she bore several injuries on her forehead and jaw. The police are probing to ascertain whether the girl was sexually abused. 10 special teams have been formed to nab the accused, and the cops are investigating the neighbors and are trying to locate the criminals behind the heinous crime.
Mother of the girl while talking to media said that her daughter went to school and came on Monday. “Don’t know who did what to my daughter. We searched for her from yesterday evening 6, now I am receiving her in my hand as a corpse. She is tied with a Tshirt in her head and her body filled with bruises. I need justice for my daughter’s death” cried mother to the media.
The postmortem exam at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) confirmed that she had been raped. The case had initially been filed as a ‘missing person’. It was then altered to include murder after the body was found on Tuesday. Now, after confirmation on sexual abuse, the case has been registered under sections 302 (Punishment for murder), 376(A). Locals staged a protest in Coimbatore's Pannimadai village. Police have arrested two persons in this case. The search operation for three other accused is still underway. Villagers demanded immediate arrest of all the accused in this regard.
