Islamabad: A massive explosion occurred in a bus in Pakistan on Wednesday, killing eight people. In fact, at least 8 people, including Chinese engineers, have been killed and several others injured in a bus carrying workers of dasu hydroelectric plant in Upper Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner Arif Khan Yousafzai told the media that the incident took place around 7.30 am when a coaster was taking more than 30 workers from barisin camp to the plant site. He said foreign engineers, frontier corps personnel and local labourers were on board the bus at the time of the accident. Yousafzai said that the cause of the blast could not be ascertained and rescue operations are on and police and rangers have cordoned off the spot. Officials said the injured have been admitted to Upper Kohistan District Headquarters Hospital.
A senior police official said that it is not clear what caused the accident, saying that mobile networks are not working in the area which is making it difficult to get information. "At present, we are not clear what really happened, whether it was an explosion or an accident," the official said. He said that once the police complete the initial investigation, the situation will become clear.
