'8-10 people from Antigua police beaten me badly, snatched phone and wallet': Mehul Choksi

New Delhi: Fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, who fled India after embezzlement of crores of rupees, has lodged a complaint with the Antigua police over his alleged beating. Mehul Choksi has said that 8-10 people claiming to be from Antigua police severely beaten him up and snatched his phone, watch and wallet.

Mehul Choksi said in his complaint to the Antigua police that, "8-10 people who were claiming to be from antigua police beat me badly. So much so that I was barely conscious. They snatched my phone, watch, wallet. He told me that they didn't want to rob me and returned my money." Mehul Choksi is currently in police custody in Dominica. Mehul had suddenly disappeared from Antigua on the evening of May 23. He was then confirmed to be in dominica by the interim security ministry in Dominica on May 26.

On May 30, some pictures of Mehul Choksi from Dominica's jail appeared in the media showing him his bruises. There were bruises on his arm. Let us tell you that Choksi was in connection with an alleged Rs 13,500 crore fraud with Punjab National Bank (PNB).
