Aizawl: 440 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 57,962. Of the 440 people, 88 children were also found positive for COVID-19. The death toll rose to 213 after the death of a 68-year-old woman from Aizawl on Sunday night.

A health department official said fresh cases were reported from various districts, with Aizawl reporting the maximum number of 310, Mamit district 74 and Kolasib district 15. He said the one-day positivity rate is 22.59 per cent as fresh cases have been detected from 1,948 samples. He said that local virus infection was found in all the patients.

The number of active cases now stands at 8,510, while 49,239 people have recovered from the infection, including 271 on Sunday. The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 84.95 percent and the mortality rate is 0.36 percent. The state has so far tested over 8.47 lakh samples for COVID-19. According to State Immunization Officer Dr. Laljavmi, more than 6.54 lakh people have been vaccinated till Saturday, out of which 2.35 lakh people have received the full dose.
