In the total of 5 states including Kerala, the flood disaster during this monsoon forced about 17 lakh people to leave their homes and become refugees. Apart from this, more than the lives of 950 people claimed in the rain and flood conditions in just five states. According to a report of  released by the Home Ministry, due to rain and flood, 993 people died in 22 August 2018 in which about 400 people in Kerala had to die due to floods.

Till now there are no concrete arrangements to curb this divest conditions.Despite the number of floods and deaths of common people every time since last several years, the central government has not been able to win over states to set up a special fund for flood relief. In recent times, a survey conducted by the Home Ministry about flood forecast and relief arrangements in different districts of the country has revealed that almost every state has not sufficient resources to deal with natural calamities like floods. Despite all this, due to such conditions occurring every year, no concrete arrangements have been made so far, now it has become a big face up to for the people of country.
