Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): On Wednesday, a day after the reports surfaced that ATMs in many parts of the country had no cash, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleged that there was an international conspiracy to hit the Indian economy.

CM Akhilesh Yadav told reports that there was cash crunch present in the machine. The cash crunch was there before paper, ink, and machines were brought from abroad. He further added that there is an international conspiracy to hit Indian economy soon.

The CM also made a veiled complaint against the BJP-led Centre of hoarding the currency notes. He also questioned that, "We have read in the newspaper that most of the currency notes have been printed in BJP rule. If there are currency in the country, but banks and ATMs are empty, then where is the money? Is it being held back, this is government's responsibility or may be government only hinted for this hoarding?"

On Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) clarified that no currency shortage took place recently. The RBI officials have confirmed the news through an interview. However, earlier in the day, citizens continued to face the issue.
