BJP, BSP, SP corporators exchanged blows over ‘Vande Mataram ‘in Meerut

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India] Jan. 09 (NT):  The elected member of a municipal corporation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Samajwadi Party(SP) on Monday came to blows over the singing of the national song Vande Mataram for the duration of the first Board meeting.

When the Vande Mataram was played on tape by BJP followers then Muslim corporators from the BSP and the SP have been away from the meeting room.

Following this, the BJP corporators raised shouting slogans alleging insolence to the national song.

The BSP and the SP corporators also shouted slogans in opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

This is not the first time that a spar over Vande Mataram happened as earlier, in December, following the swearing-in ceremony in Meerut the BJP corporators suddenly stood up and started singing 'Vande Mataram and the Mayor, Sunita Verma of the BSP, sustained to sit along with her corporators, which led to dispute by the BJP corporators and party supporters who shouted slogans of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Vande Mataram".

This is not an end, Last month, BJP and BSP corporators exchanged blown in Aligarh as the newly-elected Mayor from the BSP took the vow in Urdu. (NT)
