Sanjita Chanu hit her second consecutive gold medal on the 2nd day of the CWG 2018 at Gold Coast, Australia at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre on Friday. The Manipuri athlete created a CWG record in Snatch, lifting a total of 84 kg, and then lifted 108 kg on her way to get to a total lift of 192 kg.

 The 24-year-old  Sanjita Chanu bagged the second gold medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2018, just a day after Mirabai Chanu won the gold. She became the third weightlifter for the nation to win a medal at Gold Coast.  

On Thursday, Sanjita Chanu clinched the gold medal in Women's 53 kg weightlifting event.Worth mentioning here this is the second consecutive CWG gold medal for Sanjita Chanu .She won her first gold at Glasgow in 48 kg category.

 On the other hand Loa Dika Toua of Papua New Guinea, won silver with a total lift of 182 (80 in snatch and 102 in clean & jerk) while  Canada’s Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet claimed bronze who finished with a combined effort of 181kg (81 in snatch and 100 in clean & jerk).
