Congress questions PM Modi on buying only 36 Rafale jets when 126 required

Congress is continuously attacking Central Government and PM Narendra Modi on Rafale deal. Congress has yet questions that why government signed a pact for only 36 aircraft when 126 were required.

Congress Spokesperson, Priyanka Chaturvedi Questioned congress that if there's any urgency, why the government did not ask the French company to supply all the aircraft in one go. The first lot of the aircraft will be supplied in 2019 and the rest in 2022. If there is any urgency, the whole lot should have been supplied by 2019. She further added that A total of 126 aircraft were required, but the NDA government signed a pact for only 36 aircraft and this is strange.

Chaturvedi alleged that government has done this to favor millionaire industrialist who are friend of government and asked PM that How the cost per plane soared from Rs 526 crore to Rs 1,670 crore and why the government gave the contract to just 12-day old company.

In 2015, then defense minister Manohar Parrikar had said that the government took decisions to buy only 36 Rafale fighter jets scrapping the earlier plan to gains 126 French aircraft on grounds of huge cost.    

Congress Leader, Rahul Gandhi is also questioning the government continuously and alleged that the government has done this deal for the benefits of its industrialist friends.
