Former Indian Skipper MS Dhoni will set a new record in his name on Friday when he will play t second T20I of the three-match series against England.

He will become just the third Indian cricketer to play 500 international matches. Captain Cool Dhoni has played 499 international games till now. He will join Indian legends Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in the list of Indian players who have played over 500 international games.

Worth mention here Sachin played a total of 664 international games during his 24-year long international career while Dravid  played in 509 international games.

 According data Sachin also tops the list of players who have played most international matches.

“God of Cricket” is followed by Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ricky Ponting, Shahid Afridi, Jacques Kallis and Dravid on the list.

On Friday, MS Dhoni will become the ninth cricketer in the history of the Cricket world to achieve this landmark.

Dhoni played his international debut match in 2004 in an ODI against Bangladesh while his  Test debut came in 2005 against Sri Lanka.

In 2008, after the retirement of Indian Jumbo spinner Anil Kumble from Test cricket, Mahi also took over the job of Test skipper and went onto lead Men in Blues across formats for next six years.
