Fuel prices continue to decrease on sixth straight day

New Delhi [India], Oct 22 (NT): prices of petroleum products witnessed further decrease on Tuesday, providing some relief to consumers from harsh rate increase. Petrol, diesel prices dropped for the sixth straight day on Tuesday bringing a big relief to customers who have been worried under sky-scraping fuel prices.

The petrol price in the national capital Delhi was revised to Rs 81.34 per litre, while same in Mumbai was Rs 86.81 per litre after a 10 paise drop.

Diesel, on the other hand, is being retailed seven paise lower at Rs 74.85 per litre in Delhi, while the price of diesel in Mumbai has been cut by eight paise to sell at Rs 78.46 per litre.

The fuel prices had been witnessing a persistent climb since the past few months in the nation, burning a hole in the general commuter's pocket.

On October 4, in a bid to relieve the munch caused by high fuel prices, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, announced a drop of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after cutting excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre.
