Germany to arrive in Goa on Saturday ~ FIFA U-17 WC

NEW DELHI: The FIFA U-17 World Cup is scheduled to be held in India in six venues across the country starting from October 6 onwards and will conclude on 28th October. On Saturday, the Germany will be the first team to arrive in Goa. T

The German team is placed in Group C along with Costa Rica, Iran and Guinea and they will be playing their first match against Costa Rica on October 7. On  October 3 the other teams of Group C i.e Costa Rica, Iran and Guinea will arrive.

Germany so far has appeared at a five U-17 World Cups as they are not regular participants at FIFA U-17 World Cups. Christian Wuck is a coach at the German Football Association since 2012, taking charge of the U-16s and U-17s, among others. Under his leadership, the Germany team reached the final of the UEFA U-17 European Championship but they suffered a 1-4 defeat against France. 

The 17th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup is hosted by India and it is going to be the first FIFA tournament hosted by the country. Kochi, Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Margao and Kolkata are the selected teams. The final of the World Cup is scheduled to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on 28 October 2017.
