The expenditure on digital advertising in the country will go up to Rs 13,000 crore by December 2018 A survey has said that digital advertising spend is expected to increase at an annual rate of 35 percent. A survey of industry chambers Assocham and KPMG has said that due to the fall in smartphones and data charges, digital advertising costs will increase. 

The survey said that currently, the expenditure on digital advertising is 9,800 crores. With the expansion of 3G and 4G services and the reach of the Internet, the expenditure on digital advertising will increase. Referring to data for the year 2016, the report said that by the end of 2016, the expenditure on digital advertising was about Rs 7,500 crore.

It says that about 50 percent of the total advertising expenditure is through digital. After this there is a number of e-commerce, telecommunications, technology and banking, financial services and insurance companies. 

The report says that increasing demand for smartphones and tablets has helped advertisers reach more people. The special thing with digital advertisements is that they are flexible and can be viewed on any type of device such as television, laptop, tablet or smartphone. It has been reported in the survey that 23.5 million people go to the Internet through mobile devices. Due to mobile applications, it is now getting help in rural and remote areas also.
