Midnapore (West Bengal) [India], July 16 (NT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi  delivered his address to a Krishak Kalyan Samavesh (farmer's welfare rally) on Monday at Midnapore town in West Bengal.

The prime meeting point of the address was on the Centre's current decision to boost the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Kharif crops.

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dilip Ghosh said that the prime minister's public meeting in Midnapore proves that Bengal is one of their top main concern states in the Lok Sabha poll.

In his address PM Modi hailed his government initiatives for farmers . PM Modi said that The syndicate operating here is just for the sake of vote bank and for just to stay in power. It alienates the rest of the people of West Bengal.

The real face of 'Ma Mati Manush' is for everyone to see. There is ' murder your opponents' syndicate operating here. Nothing can happen in West Bengal without the permission of this syndicate. Even doing 'Puja' has become difficult here: PM Modi said  in Midnapore

The BJP has made steady inroads in a range of districts of West Bengal and has emerged as the main opposition party in the state after the recent panchayat polls and by-polls.

Worth mention here Modi Led Central Government on July 4 permitted the proposal to increse MSP by 50 per cent for 14 Kharif crops for the year 2018-19.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi gave its nod to the proposal made by Union Minister Arun Jaitley in the Budget 2018 of increasing the support price by one-and-a-half times of the production cost for Kharif crops.

MSP is considered to a price at which the government purchases crops from the farmers, to look after agriculture producers from fall in farm prices. (NT)
