In view of preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, the appointment of President of the state Congress in Karnataka is certain. The party does not want to take the risk of repeating the 'missed' election of the high-end assembly elections. Under this strategy, there is a search for the strong face that fits the best in the political equation of the state. In these faces, former Union minister Lok Sabha MP H Muniyappa is considered as a strong contender. Rajya Sabha MP former party general secretary BK Hariprasad is also involved in this race of the state president.

After forming a coalition government with JD (S), the Congress needs the effective state president to hold the politics of Deve Gowda in the purview of the state. In the last few days, this issue was also announced in Karnataka in the meeting of all the MPs of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka. It is understood that senior MPs like BK Hariprasad and Rajeev Gauda have forwarded the name of Muniyappa to the new state president as a better option in the present circumstances. While Muniyappa suggested the name of Hariprasad in this meeting. According to sources, most of the MPs were advised that it would be better to delegate the Dalit community only.

After becoming Deputy Chief Minister in the Coalition Government, God has to leave the state chair. That is why Muniyappa is considered to be a strong contender according to both social and political equations. Muniyappa is considered to be a good even among upper class not only on Dalit community of the province. He is a Member of Parliament from the last seven Lok Sabha constituencies. During the UPA government, he has also been a minister in several sectors including the Minister of State for Railways.
