In 2016, Lady Superstar Nayanthara had featured in the Malayalam magnum opusPuthiya Niyamam directed by AK Sajan and co-featuring Megastar Mammootty as her better half, and the magnum opus which had a socially alarming topic was a commercially and widely praised venture at the box office. The motion picture also won Nayanthara the best actress Filmfare award for her performance as a married woman who is sexually abused and goes on a revenge spree to kill her abusers.

The movie was dubbed and released in Tamil as Vasuki. Now, the film is all set to be remade in Bollywood by a renowned director. Director Neeraj Pandey, who had last directed Aiyaary, and is known for his hit movies like Baby, A Wednesday, Special Chabbis and MS Dhoni The Untold story will be directing the remade of Puthiya Niyamam in Hindi, and the declaration on the cast and crew will be made soon.
