Almost 50 people have been taken into custody in Pathanamthitta and Nilakkal district including former Travancore Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan for protesting against entry of women in age group 10 to 50 to Sabarimala temple as the leading news agency ANI reported.

It also reported that total 30 people have been arrested in Pamba, 9 yesterday and 21 today, in connection with  the same protests and two of them got bail.

Meanwhile in Kerala amid ongoing protest woman devotee Madhavi with her children returned mid-day from her journey to SabarimalaTemple after facing protests. Police is also present at that incident.

A 40-year-old  Madhavi, who is from Andhra Pradesh along with her family were heckled and intimidated on Wednesday as they walked towards the Sabarimala temple.

When they began to climb to the hilly shrine after reaching the base, Pamba, along with her children and parents, had braved every obstacle in her way, with the police walking alongside.But the police stopped near the holy place and as the family claimed and asked them to proceed on their own.

Sabrimala temple is all set to open its portals this evening for the first time since the Supreme Court reversed a centuries-old ban on women of menstruating age -- 10 to 50 years -- entering the place of pilgrimage.
