South Africa mulls Mou with India for easy tourism

Johannesburg (South Africa) [India], July 27 (NT): South African Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom on Thursday stated that they are looking for an accord with India to make sure easy tourism.

In an interview with ANI, Hanekom stated that major growth of tourism is hampered by visa necessities and direct flights. He added that South Africa is looking at reintroducing direct flights and looking for an agreement in this space with India.

His declaration comes in the background of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to South Africa on the sidelines of 10th BRICS summit.

"Kind of agreements signed at BRICS are very important for the world on whole. There are strong historical ties with India, many Indian-origin people in South Africa. Strengthening cultural and sporting ties between the two countries is important," Hanekom was quoted by ANI.

Hanekom further stated that South Africa is seeking for a MoU on tourism cooperation for all BRICS nations.

He further noted that SA is looking for a MoU on tourism cooperation for all BRICS countries. He insisted that if we need greater economic cooperation, we need to decrease the number of less-skilled people, need to search out them work-ready and language skills also need improvement.

Meanwhile, South African Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene assured that South Africa is functioning very well with India in regards of politically and economically areas.
