On Thursday,University Grants Commission (UGC)directed collages and universities of the country to celebrate September 29 as the Surgical Strikle Day but congress is criticize it and saying it as an political move.

Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Kapil Sibal has criticized it and declared it as that the motive behind to reap the political benefits. Sibal said that I do not think since independence, we have seen UGC giving any kind of directive of this nature to universities. For UGC, to give a directive is destroying the very independence of the university system. The only motive of this directive is to reap political gains.

Earlier UGC has issued the circulation in which it directed universities and colleges to observe 'Surgical Strike Day' on September 29 by conducting different activities such as organizing parade, sending greetings to the soldiers or by inviting the Ex-servicemen.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has cleared that the circular is only advisory in nature and not mandatory or imposed. It means that it depends on the collages and universities that they want to celebrate it or not.

On 29 September 2016, the Indian Army carried out the surgical strike in which it crosses the LOC and enter the Pakistan to kill the terrorists.
