Ranbir Kapoor's latest release Jagga Jasoos couldn't make profit at the box office. It only earned INR 43.75 crore which is not even half to what he has invested. Now as per the sources, Ranbir was seriously interested in doing Dum Laga Ke Haisha director Sharat Katariya's next project which is titled Sui Dhaaga. However the actor backed out of the film.

Also Varun Dhawan has replaced Ranbir and Anushka Sharma has been roped in as the leading lady of the film.

Varun Dhawan about the film said, "From Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi) to Modiji (Narendra Modi), our country’s leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Made in India. With Sui Dhaaga, I’m proud to take their message to millions of movie lovers in a manner that is entertaining and relevant."

While Anushka added, "I always get excited with unique ideas that have human interest stories. Sui Dhaaga is a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect to the grassroots level with every Indian."
