One of the most loved actors Vir Das who is also a famous comedian. Vir Das has landed in legal soup after a Right-wing group Janajagruti Samiti filed a complaint against the comedian's show in Bangalore. He lodged a complaint seeking cancellation for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments and showing India in a bad light to the world.
The Goa-based Hindu Janajagruti Samiti submitted a letter to the Vyalikaval police on Monday. The Samiti has lodged a police complaint in this regard at the Vyalikaval police station in Bangalore. He lodged the complaint asking for Das' show to be canceled as he had ‘hurt Hindu sentiments and shown India in a bad light.’
The spokesperson of the organization, Mohan Gowda also claimed that Das had made derogatory remarks about Indian women. The statement wrote, "It has been noticed that the controversial comedian Vir Das is holding a comedy show on November 10 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. Earlier, he had made derogatory statements against women, our Prime Minister, and India at John F Kennedy Center in Washington DC, America, and denigrated the nation."
It further stated, "When Karnataka is already facing many law and order problems due to communal incidents, such events which could vitiate the law and order should not be allowed. We demand that this program should be canceled immediately."
Vir once said, "In India, we worship women in the day and rape them at night" during his performance. A case was registered in this regard by Mumbai Police as it is a serious offense under the Indian Penal Code. On the work front, Vir Das is currently busy with his Wanted world tour. The comedian-actor will also be visiting Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Chandigarh.
