Ahmedabad: Police have solved the case of repeatedly raping a 33-year-old deaf-mute girl in Gondal in Rajkot district of Gujarat and impregnating her. The Gujarat Police has arrested Iqbal alias Iku Ahmed Chauhan (age 52), a dargah watchman (age 52) and Siddique Akara Siddique (age 50), a truck driver, after a 3-day operation. These people were raping the girl in an empty room of the Dargah premises for the last three years.
According to reports, a deaf and mute girl, a resident of Gondal, was admitted to the Rajkot Civil Hospital after she complained of abdominal pain. Where it came to light that she was pregnant. Due to the unmarried girl being pregnant, the medical staff informed the police. After the matter came to light, Rajkot Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaipal Singh Rathore asked the police officers to arrest the accused at the earliest by solving the matter. The Gujarat Police started investigating the matter.
The girl was deaf and dumb as well as illiterate, so the investigation was very difficult. The police took the help of Kashyap Pancholi and Jaisukh Kumar Surani, sign language teachers from a school for the deaf and dumb in Rajkot, to understand the girl. The girl is survived by her father, brother and sister-in-law. The girl's mother had passed away two years back. The girl does not even have knowledge of sign language, so even the experts had to struggle a lot to understand her.
After continuous efforts finally got the FIR details of the first accused. After guessing the accused, the police showed photographs of some people to the victim, from which the accused could be identified. The police arrested the accused and presented the girl in front of them and got them identified. After this, legal action was started by registering a case against the accused. According to the information given by the police, there is a dargah near the girl's house. She used to regularly visit this dargah for darshan and burn incense sticks. Iqbal, the watchman of the dargah, used to live in a room in the dargah premises. The girl used to go to the dargah every day. One day, taking advantage of the girl being deaf and dumb, Iqbal took her to a room on some pretext and raped her there.
Iqbal had been raping the girl for three years. The other accused in the rape is truck driver Siddiqui, who was also known to the girl's father and brother. He also knew about the girl being deaf. Siddiqui was also keeping an evil eye on the girl for almost 3 years. As soon as he got a chance, he would take the girl to an isolated place and rape her. Now the police have arrested both the accused and further action is being taken.
