Meerut: A head constable posted at Daurala police station in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh shot himself with a government rifle at a police choki late Saturday. Forensic teams including SP City have also started investigating the spot. The dead body has been sent for post-mortem. Originally 50-year-old Hiralal, a resident of Bibi Nagar in Bulandshahar, was posted as Head Constable in UP Police.

According to fellow policemen, Hiralal was posted at the Sakauti outpost of Daurala police station for the last two years and lived alone at the residence in the outpost premises. According to Inspector Daurala, Hiralal home guard Ved Prakash went to patrolling the area around 1 pm on Saturday night. After that he went back to the post to drink tea. Hiralal sent homeguards to make tea inside Choki and himself stayed outside the premises. A few minutes later, home guard Vedprakash heard the sound of the bullet.

After this, when Vedprakash came out, Hiralal's blood-stained body was lying in the outpost. High officials were stirred up after the Home Guard was informed of the incident. SP City Akhilesh Narayan Singh and a team of forensics also reached the spot. Hiralal was shot with his official INSAS rifle close to the head. SP City told that prima facie the case seems to be of suicide. The case is being investigated. The family of the deceased head constable has also reached Meerut after getting information.
