New Delhi: Once again in the capital of Delhi, wine lovers will be able to get cheap liquor. The Kejriwal government has decided to remove the 70 per cent 'special corona fee' imposed on liquor amid the Corona crisis. After this decision taken on Sunday, the people of Delhi will get liquor from June 10 at a lower price.
An official has given information in this regard. However, giving the information, the official said that the government has increased the Value Added Tax (VAT) on all categories of liquor from 20 percent to 25 percent. VAT is 20 percent now, it will be increased to 25 percent. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. It is noteworthy that last month, the government imposed a special corona fee on the maximum retail price (MRP) of liquor. In fact, in the beginning of the month of May, the central government gave permission to open liquor shops during the lockdown.
When the Delhi government opened liquor shops on 4 May, it became so crowded that it became difficult to control. When the social distancing raged, shops had to be closed in a hurry. On the same night, the Delhi government, seeing the opportunity, ordered 70 percent of the maximum retail price (MRP) to be taken as 'corona fee'.
