Srinagar: The sarpanch of a village in southern Kashmir and the local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kashmiri Pandit Vijay Raina, have claimed that they could be the next target of terrorists in the valley. Vijay Raina is the sarpanch of a village as well as the district level party spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kulgam.
He asked PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide security to him and other members of the panchayat who belong to other minority communities of the area. He said that terrorists can now attack more panchayat members associated with the Hindu community. Earlier, in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, militants shot Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch Ajay Pandita to death early Monday.
The Resistance Front (TRF), an organization related to terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the murder. Police officials said that the terrorists killed Sarpanch of Larkipura area of Anantnag district and Congress member Ajay Pandita in his village at 6 pm. He said that Ajay Pandita was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
