GURUGRAM: In a shocking incident, a 52-year-aged man, who was a former vice chairman of Sohna Market Committee, was shot dead in broad daylight on Gurudwara Road in Gurugram on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Sukhbir Singh alias Sukhi, beelonging to Rithoj village in Gurugram.
Although the man was shot and taken to a private hospital in Gurugram shortly after, he died from his wounds. After receiving the information, a team from the local police station sped to the hospital to begin an investigation. The victim's family members were also made aware of the situation.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the victim Sukhbir was inside Raymond's shop on Gurudwara Road on Thursday about 3.30 p.m. when three to five armed thugs approached him and opened fire inside the store. Five to eight rounds of ammunition were shot at Sukhbir by the attackers before they departed the scene.
"The reason for the incident is yet unknown. In order to identify the suspect, we are looking through neighboring locations' CCTV footage "DCP (West) Deepak Saharan said.
The officer declared, "The crime is being probed from all sides, including personal animosity and business disagreements."
