KANPUR : Four persons have reportedly been arrested in Kanpur for kidnapping and sodomizing a ten-year-old boy before throwing him alive in the Ganga river. The boy is yet to be found.
As per police reports, the minor boy was kidnapped two days ago when he had gone out of his house in the Cantonment area to play.
When his father declined their demand for a 6 lakh rupee ransom, the kidnappers sodomised the boy and dumped him alive in the Ganga. The defendants have admitted to the offence.
Anand Prakash Tiwari, joint commissioner of police, said: "The boy might have been sexually molested before being thrown into the river. Four adults who live in the same locality as the boy have been detained by police as part of their investigation." The father of the boy, who works as a driver, said the kidnappers told him to pay Rs. six lakh. "I told them I was unable to pay or arrange such a big sum," he said.
He immediately alerted the police, who were able to track four persons:- Ballu, Amit, Saghir, and Ameen, through the number the kidnappers had used and obtained CCTV footage, showing them picking up the boy.
The suspects said during questioning that they had sodomized the boy after learning that his father would not be able to pay the ransom.
