Moradabad:  In a shocking incidnet, a 17-year-old girl at Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh consumed acid after she was 'mentally distressed' as she was being harassed and tortured by a local youth. "The girl was admitted to a private hospital after she drank acid upset over being teased and harassed while on way to college, police said.
The victim’s father has accused a local youth of teasing and molesting his daughter.

"The investigation into the issue revealed that although the two had discussed getting married, things between them deteriorated... According to facts, the investigation is being conducted, said Superintendent of  City Police Akhilesh Bhadoria. Though the girl has been battling for life since the past few days, the police have registered an FIR only now.

According to the victim's father, who works for a brass company, "she took acid at around 11 pm on August 22 and the family promptly brought her to the district hospital,"  Majhola police station in charge said later, she was taken to a Pakbara private hospital where she is receiving care.

More information about the incident is awaited when the police filed a case against the suspects.
