In yet another shocking incident a tribal girl was raped by three drunken men in Tripura. A minor tribal girl was allegedly gang-raped when she was returning after attending Pooja programme. The incident took place in Khowai district of Tripura. Police have arrested one person in connection with the crime, cops said on Wednesday.
The gang rape comes days after another teenager was allegedly gang-raped in Unakoti district. The Opposition had alleged that a minister's son was involved in Unakoti gang-rape case. In the Khowai case, the tribal girl has filed a complaint stating that she was waylaid and held captive by three men, who wee all drunk, when she was returning with her friends from a Kali Puja programme.
According to the information, the accused snatched mobile phones from them and allowed others to go but she was held captive. The accused then allegedly took turns raping the girl. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prasun Tripura said one of the three accused has been nabbed while searches are underway to arrest others.
As per the police, they have sent the survivor for medical examination and her reports are awaited. These types of incidents are increasing day by day. In a similar incident in May, a 17-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by a man in the Gomati district of Tripura. The accused was arrested and charged under relevant IPC sections and POCSO Act.The minor girl had gone to Amarpur to attend a village fair at Chandibari temple. They forcibly took the girl to bushes near and allegedly raped her on the way home.
