Today marks a momentous occasion as Prime Minister Narendra Modi graces Tamil Nadu with his presence for the inauguration of the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport. Kicking off his visit to South India, PM Modi is set to unveil and dedicate this significant addition to the nation, simultaneously laying the foundation stone for multiple development projects valued at over Rs. 19,850 crore in Tamil Nadu.

As per the Prime Minister's Office statement, the impressive new terminal at Tiruchirappalli International Airport has been constructed at a cost exceeding Rs. 1,100 crore. What sets this architectural marvel apart is its design, which beautifully encapsulates the cultural essence of Tiruchirappalli. Drawing inspiration from the city's rich cultural heritage, the terminal showcases various art forms, from the intricate Kolam designs to the vibrant hues reminiscent of Srirangam Temple, among other theme-based artworks.

With a capacity to cater to over 44 lakh passengers annually and approximately 3,500 passengers during peak hours, the upgraded Trichy airport boasts 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure emigration counters within its new terminal building.

Notably, Tiruchirappalli International Airport stands as the second-largest airport in Tamil Nadu concerning international passenger traffic, following Chennai. The inauguration of this state-of-the-art terminal not only signifies infrastructural development but also promises enhanced convenience and a reflection of the vibrant cultural identity of Tiruchirappalli.
