On Saturday, in a tragic incident, four young men from Rangarajapuram village in Venkatapuram (Nugur) mandal drowned in the Godavari river near Marikala. The bodies were taken out on Saturday evening and two more bodies were recovered on Sunday morning. The dead were identified as Tumma Karthik (19), Sanke Srikanth (20), Kodirakkala Aaesh (20) and Rayavarapu Prakash (19).

Police sources said that a total of 16 young men went to the river bank to celebrate the friend's birthday. However, four of them entered the river to swim. But they were drowned in the water because they did not know the depth and current. The dark village landed when four young men of the village of Rangarajapuram met with untimely death. Venkatapuram CI Shiva Prasad supervised the fishing operation of the bodies.
