It is believed that almost all the people in the world only live for themselves but in human history, there are examples of many humans who offered their lives in the service of philanthropy and others.

Mother Teresa is also one of such great people who only lived for others. Mother Teresa is such a name that, when remembered, our heart is filled with conviction and a special respect for her is seen on the face.

Mother Teresa was such a great soul whose heart was beating for all the poor, sick, helpless and poor people of the world, and that is why she put her whole life in their service and well-being.

Her real name was 'Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu'. Gonza in the Albanian language means flower bud. There are no two opinions that Mother Teresa was a bud who had filled the fragrance of love in the life of poor and helpless people at a very young age.

Early Life Of Mother Teresa:

Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje (now in Macedonia). Her father, Nikollë Bojaxhiu, was a simple businessman. Mother Teresa's real name was 'Agnes Gonzo Boyajiju'. Gonza in the Albanian language means flower bud.

When she was just eight years old, her father died, after which the entire responsibility of his upbringing came upon his mother Dranafile Bojxhiu. She was the youngest of five siblings. At the time of her birth, her elder sister was 7 years old and the brother was two years old, the other two had passed away in childhood.

She was a beautiful, studious and hard working girl. Along with studies, He liked the songs very much. She and her sister were the main singers in the nearby cathedral. It is believed that when she was barely twelve years old, she had experienced that she would devote all his life to human service.

Then at the age of 18, she decided to join the 'Sisters of Loreto'. She then went to Ireland where she learned English. Learning English was necessary because 'Loretto Sisters' used to teach children in this medium only, in India.

Mother Teresa's Arrival to India:

Sister Teresa arrived from Ireland to India on January 6, 1929, at the 'Loreto Convent' in Calcutta. She was a disciplined teacher and the student used to love her very much. In 1944 she became a headmistress.

Her mind was completely involved in teaching, but poverty and helplessness spread around her, troubled her mind always. In the famine of 1943, there was a large number of deaths in the city and people became helpless because of poverty. The Hindu-Muslim riots of 1946 made the city of Calcutta even more frightening.

Missionaries of Charity:

In the year 1946, he decided to help the poor, helpless, sick for lifelong. After this, Mother Teresa completed necessary nursing training from Holi Family Hospital in Patna and in 1948 she returned to Kolkata and she was stranded for the first time, where she stayed with the care of the poor elderly. She washed the wounds of the patients and gave them medicines.

Gradually, she drew the attention of people from her work. These people also included in the country's top officials and the Prime Minister of India, who appreciated her work.

According to Mother Teresa, at the starting, the work was very difficult. She had left the Loreto, so she had no income. Eventually, she had to get the help of others to fill her stomach. At this crucial stage of her life, there was a lot of turmoil, a feeling of loneliness, and the idea of returning to Loreto's comforts was also on her mind but she did not give up.

On October 7, 1950, she got the permission of establishing 'Missionaries of Charity' from the Vatican. The objective of this organization was to help people suffering from hunger, homeless, lame, blind, skin diseases and help people who had no place in society.

The Missionaries of Charity started with only 13 people, but at the time of Mother Teresa's death (1997) more than 4 thousand 'Sisters' were involved who helped destitutely, refugees, blind, old, poor, homeless, alcoholic, served AIDS patients and people affected by natural disasters.

Mother Teresa opened the ashram in the name of 'Nirmal Hriday' and 'Nirmala Shishu Bhawan'. The aim of 'Nirmal Hridaya' was to serve the patients suffering from incurable disease and the poor who were expelled by the society. Nirmala Shishu Bhawan was established to assist the orphan and homeless children.

Honours and awards:

Mother Teresa received many international honors and awards for the service of humanity. The Indian government embellished her with Padma Shri (1962) and later the country's highest civilian honor, 'Bharat Ratna' (1980).

The United States gave her the Medal of Freedom in the year 1985. Because of the work which was done for human welfare, Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.She was given this award to help the poor and helpless. Mother Teresa decided to use the Nobel Prize money of $192,000 as a fund for the poor.

Death:

With increasing age, her health also deteriorated. In the year 1983, at the age of 73, she had a heart attack for the first time. At that time Mother Teresa went to Rome to meet John Paul II.

After this, she suffered a second heart attack in 1989 and she was inducted in an artificial pacemaker. In 1991, after pneumonia in Mexico, her heart's problems increased.

After this, her health continued to decline. On March 13, 1997, she left the post of Missionaries of Charity and died on September 5, 1997. By the time of his death, the Missionaries of Charity had 4000 sister and 300 other associate organizations working in 123 countries of the world. Pope John Paul II declared "Blessed" in Rome on October 19, 2003.
