New Delhi: Even though the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections unilaterally, the Muslims of Delhi seem to be moving away from Arvind Kejriwal. There are reports that Muslims have once again turned to Congress, which has increased the disquiet of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP has started efforts to persuade the Muslim votes slipping out of Delhi's politics. On the one hand, AAP gave a political message to the Muslims by nominating Aale Mohammad Iqbal as the candidate for Delhi Deputy Mayor, while on the other hand, the party's Muslim face and MLA Amanatullah Khan started the exercise of reconciling with the Maulanas and bringing them into his side.

According to the report, AAP MLA from Okhla and Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board Amanatullah Khan is meeting with all the Ulemas and Imams of the Muslim community these days. In the last week, he has met separately with half a dozen Maulanas of Delhi. Amanatullah has held meetings with Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani, Tablighi Jamaat's Maulana Saad, Imam Ahmed Bukhari of Delhi Jama Masjid, Mufti Mukarram of Fatehpuri Masjid and Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Sadatullah Hussaini. Amanatullah Khan started this series of meetings after the MCD elections. Amanatullah has started rapprochement with all those Ulemas who have considerable influence among the Muslim community.

Amanatullah's meeting with Maulana Saad is believed to be to remove the displeasure among the people of Tablighi Jamaat. Similarly, through Jamaat-e-Islami and Maulana Arshad Madni, there is also an exercise of meditation. That is why these meetings are being viewed from a political point of view because there has been a change in the thinking of the Muslim community regarding AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. It is being told that in the MCD elections, Muslim voters have drifted away from AAP and turned towards Congress. The result of this is that in Muslim areas like Okhla, Seelampur, Mustafabad, and Shastri Park, Muslims have reposed faith in Congress.
