Fast bowlers Mohammad Aamir and Hasan Ali have left the board's official WhatsApp group after being dropped from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) annual central contract list released for the 2020-21 season. According to Cricket Pakistan's report, team sources were quoted as saying that it was not uncommon for players to voluntarily leave the group. The group was formed by the PCB for issues and fitness recommendations, but after being removed from the central contract list, Aamir and Hasan have left the group.

Wahab Riaz was also among the players to be excluded from the annual central contract list, but Riaz still remains a part of this WhatsApp group of PCB. The PCB had last week released the annual central contract list of 18 players for the 2020-21 season, in which young fast bowler Nasim Shah and wicketkeeper-batsman Iftikhar Ahmed were included in this list for the first time. They will be effective from July 1.

However, the PCB had said that Aamir, Hassan and Riyaz are contenders for selection in the team. After being excluded from the list of central contracts, Hassan even made a controversial tweet, which he later deleted. He played his last match against India in the World Cup 2019 in Manchester. Aamir played for Pakistan for the last time in the T20 series against Australia, while Riaz also played his last match in the same series.
