New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday reported that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s health has been deteriorating rapidly since his arrest. According to the party, Kejriwal has lost 8 kg since being taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

At the time of his arrest, Kejriwal weighed 70 kg, but by June 22, his weight had dropped to a concerning 62 kg, AAP stated. “The continuous weight loss, deemed very serious by the doctors, highlights the necessity for immediate and thorough medical evaluations to address and understand the root cause of Arvind Kejriwal’s health decline,” said AAP. AAP added that the persistent weight loss prompted the AIIMS medical board to recommend including 'parathas' and 'puri' in Kejriwal’s diet to help mitigate this issue.

“We had demanded an extension of Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail for a week because we feared that his health needed to be thoroughly examined. Doctors from Max Hospital had advised several tests given Kejriwal's decreasing weight,” AAP mentioned. The party further alleged that despite urgent recommendations from doctors at Max Hospital for comprehensive medical tests, only some blood tests were conducted on the jailed Chief Minister. AAP claimed that critical heart tests and cancer screening tests are still pending.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in March in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Excise Policy. He was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court for 21 days to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. Kejriwal requested an extension of his interim bail, but the request was denied. A trial court on Thursday granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal, but the Delhi High Court ordered an interim stay on the trial court's decision.
