New Delhi: The Aam Admi Party (AAP) has issued a compelling three-line whip, summoning all its Rajya Sabha MPs to be present in the House from July 31 to August 4. Their presence is required to lend support to the party's stance on the bill intended to replace the ordinance on the control of services in Delhi during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

The whip notice, eloquently put forth by Chief Whip Sushil Kumar Gupta, highlights that several critical issues will be brought up in the Rajya Sabha on various dates in August, including the crucial "The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 - Discussion and Passing." This notice urges all members of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha to be dutifully present in the house from 11 AM onwards until the adjournment of the House from July 31 to August 4, 2023. Their unwavering support is of utmost importance.

Next week's agenda for both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha includes the Bill that seeks to replace the Centre's Ordinance on the control of services in Delhi. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal has informed the Lok Sabha of the government's business, while Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan has shared the government's plans with the Rajya Sabha.

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, is a significant endeavor to replace the ordinance that was introduced by the Centre in May. This ordinance excluded 'services' from the legislative competence of the Delhi legislative assembly, in response to a Supreme Court judgment. As Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeks opposition parties' support against the ordinance, members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance have declared their opposition to the Bill in Parliament. Despite challenges, the government expresses confidence in successfully passing the bill.
