Amritsar: A tragic incident has shaken Jalandhar district in Punjab, where a young man was brutally stabbed to death, sustaining 17 grievous wounds across his body. The victim, identified as Ankit Jamba, was attacked while he was en route to the hospital with his pregnant wife, Manisha, who also sustained injuries in the assault and is currently undergoing treatment. The alleged perpetrators, led by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker Karan Malli and his accomplices, have been accused of the murder, prompting police intervention and an ongoing investigation into the matter.
The harrowing incident unfolded in the Chai Mango area of Basti Sheikh locality in Jalandhar. Ankit, a 26-year-old entrepreneur who owned a plastic manufacturing factory, was riding his bike with his wife when they were intercepted by Karan Malli and five other individuals. Without provocation, the assailants launched a vicious attack on Ankit, repeatedly stabbing him in the stomach, back, and head, resulting in fatal injuries. Despite Manisha's valiant efforts to protect her husband, she too suffered injuries during the altercation.
The ruthless assault lasted for about five minutes before the attackers fled the scene, leaving Ankit fatally wounded. Despite Manisha's pleas for help, bystanders failed to intervene, compounding the tragedy. Ankit was rushed to the hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. Manisha, meanwhile, remains hospitalized, battling severe injuries sustained during the attack. In response, the police have initiated legal proceedings, registering an FIR against the alleged perpetrators, including Karan Malli, Sonu, Ajay, and Sunny, under charges of murder, attempted murder, and other relevant sections of the law.
The motive behind the heinous crime is believed to stem from a longstanding feud between the accused and the deceased. Allegedly, Ankit had filed an FIR against Karan Malli for attempted murder about two and a half years ago, following a previous altercation between them. Subsequently, both parties had been involved in legal disputes, with Ankit even facing imprisonment. Manisha contends that Karan had been persistently threatening her husband since then, but despite her complaints to the Punjab Police, no decisive action was taken.
The victim's brother, Mani, has accused Karan of being involved in criminal activities, including drug trafficking in the Malli area of Jalandhar. In the aftermath of Ankit's murder, family members and relatives staged protests at the hospital, refusing to cremate his body until the perpetrators were apprehended. In response to escalating tensions, police reinforcements were deployed to maintain order. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the brutal attack, leaving the victim's loved ones seeking justice for his untimely demise.
