The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Lakhimpur district unit has strongly criticized the alleged attack on Assamese citizens by miscreants from across the border on Thursday in Mingmang, Dhemaji district.

Simanta Neog, president of the Lakhimpur AASU, and Swaraj Sankar Gogoi, general secretary, said in a press release, "Despite  AASU has repetitively demanded that the border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh be resolved, it has been observed that the governments at the Centre and in the State have paid no attention to the issue to date. As a result, miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh may be able to attack Assamese citizens."

In this regard, AASU Central Committee organising secretary Pulok Borah and executive member Dhanmoni Dutta slammed the Union and State governments for their alleged lackadaisical attitude in taking strong measures to protect Assamese living in border areas from attacks and atrocities perpetrated by miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh. They urged the Arunachal Pradesh miscreants not to assault the people of Assam.

"The aggressors from Arunachal Pradesh have been constructing roads, buildings, churches, and other structures in Assam's Sessa, Ranga Reserve Forest, and Dullung Reserve Forest due to a lack of strong actions by the State government and Forest Department against them," they stated,

On February 3, the Lakhimpur AASU will stage a rally to protest the State government's claimed inability to resolve the Inter-State border conflict and secure the people living in the border area, as well as the Union government's inattentive attitude toward the matter.
