Legendary Malayalam actress Chitra passed away at her residence in Chennai on Saturday. She was 56. As per information from the source, Chitra suffered a heart attack.
Chitra, who played prominent roles in more than 100 films in multiple languages, was also a popular face on Tamil television. Chitra is survived by her husband Vijayaraghavan and their daughter Mahalakshmi.
The popular actress, who was also top Tamil television, had acted in over 100 films across multiple languages. Chitra’s most notable performances include roles in Kalikkalam (1990), Devasuram (1993), and Pathamudayam (1985). She also acted alongside Prem Nazir and Mohanlal in her debut film 'Aattakalasham' in 1983.
Chitra refrained from acting at the peak of her career in the late 90s due to personal problems and got married. She is survived by husband Vijayararaghavan, a businessman, and daughter Mahalakshmi.
