Accusations Against DMK Government: BJP President Alleges Misappropriation of Credit

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai has launched scathing criticism against the DMK government, accusing them of wrongly taking credit for initiatives introduced by the Modi-led Central government. Annamalai voiced his concerns through his social media platform X, alleging that the state administration has been affixing stickers on Central schemes and presenting them as their own accomplishments.

Pointing out the lack of fulfillment of promises made during the 2021 Assembly elections and the absence of new beneficial schemes, Annamalai lambasted the Stalin-led government for prioritizing superficial branding over genuine governance. He asserted that the Chief Minister is misleading the public by showcasing projects funded and executed by the central authority as achievements of the DMK regime.

Specifically addressing educational issues, Annamalai highlighted the failure of the DMK government to allocate funds for kindergarten classes in schools for the past two years. He also questioned the decision to award contracts worth Rs 1000 crore to a Kerala government-run company for the procurement of equipment to establish smart classrooms, sidelining the state-owned ELCOT (Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited).

The dispute over the credit for educational advancements in Tamil Nadu has sparked a contentious debate between the Central and State governments. Annamalai accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of appropriating projects funded by the Central government as initiatives of the state government, while Stalin countered with claims of transformative changes in the educational infrastructure during the DMK's tenure. However, critics argue that Stalin's focus on internal party dynamics and national political aspirations detracts from addressing crucial governance issues.
