Amid the lockdown, the Aam Aadmi Party has accused the cabinet minister, Congress MLA and other officers of the state in the multi-crore rupee land scam on National Highway 105-B connecting Bathinda-Moga-Jalandhar-Jammu. At the same time, the party has also demanded the matter to be investigated by the sitting judge of the High Court.

On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema told the media that the land scam was carried out by the high profile land mafia based on Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar and Congress MLA Harjot Kamal from Moga, along with other leaders, officers and brokers of the ruling party.

In his statement, he further said that this scam has not only affected the farmers and small landowners but also the government treasury. Cheema said that the highway is being built by Baghapurana-Moga-Dharmakot to directly connect the Jalandhar-Jammu highway. For this, the lands of Dharmkot, Moga, Baghapurana, Jaito and Rampuraful Light have been acquired. Also, he alleged that several leaders of the ruling party are directly involved in the scam, including Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar and MLA Harjot Kamal. Even the acquisition amount of about 350 crore rupees has been transacted by a private bank in Ajitwal village of Harjot Kamal. At the same time, Cheema presented the document stating that the first notification for the identification of land took place on January 10, 2020, while the Congress leaders and concerned officials were fully aware of the project before issuing the notification. The second notifications were released on May 21, 2020 and the last notifications were released on May 22, 2020. During this period, from November 2019 to May 2020, more than 55 cell deeds under NH 105-B were deeded.
